OUR MISSION
The mission of the State Suicide Prevention Council is to reduce the incidence of suicide in New Hampshire by accomplishing the goals of the State Suicide Prevention Plan:
- Raise public and professional awareness of suicide prevention
- Address the mental health and substance use disorder needs of all residents
- Address the needs of those affected by suicide
- Promote policy change
Who we are
The NH Suicide Prevention Council has a diverse, cross-sector membership. RSA 126-R:3 details the statutory, voting members of the NH SPC, and more non-statutory members also contribute to the work of the Council and its committees. Meetings are open to the Public, and the NH SPC is administratively tied to the N.H. Department of Health & Human Services.
The Council’s Leadership Team includes an elected Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Clerk, and Committee Chairs.
What we do
RSA 126-R:2 describes the duties of the NH Suicide Prevention Council.
There is hereby established the New Hampshire Council on suicide prevention to oversee the implementation of the New Hampshire suicide prevention plan. The council shall ensure the continued effectiveness of the plan by evaluating its implementation, producing progress reports, and recommending program changes, initiatives, funding opportunities, and new priorities to update the plan. The council shall also be a proponent of suicide prevention in New Hampshire.

2024 Conference
November 14, 2024
Each year the SPC plans and presents a full-day conference devoted to bringing individuals, businesses, education, public health, mental health, and caregivers together to share, learn and expand the development of suicide prevention efforts, support for survivors of suicide loss, and attempt survivors. Generally held in November, the 2024 NH Suicide Prevention Conference will be held on November 14th. Be sure to save the date and check back for registration information in early September 2024.
